Last weekend the kids and I drove down to Bandera for a photoshoot with Outlaw Photography. Jacklen Taylor takes all of the kids pictures and she did a fantastic job!! If you live in the area you should definately check them out for your next shoot. They did an amazing job and are have great prices! She also took pictures of Lexi for a boutique that sells Tutus, but Ill post those seperate.

Memorial Day

We had a quiet Memorial Day at home. Daddy had to work so the kids and I just hung out at home. It was really hot but we still had fun playing in the front yard riding bikes and scooters. Lexi wouldnt let me take her picture (Maybe she was pictured out from her photo shoot) but I got some cute pictures of the boys. I got these of Kaeleb before he pulled his hat off.

Happy Mothers Day everyone! We had a good day with family. I did receive the best mothers day gift...Kaeleb decided to start walking! He took 7 steps! Yay! Im so ready for my 31 lb baby to walk! He had his one year appointment last thursday and he weighed 31lbs and was 31.25 inches long. I cant wait till he is full blown walking!

Wow! One year already! I cant believe a whole year has past already. 365 days. Really? It seems like just yesterday I was holding my baby boy in my arms.

You were born weighing only 7 lbs 7 oz and were 21.5 inches long. now a whole year later you are 30 lbs 14 oz and are 30.25 inches long.

Today we celebrated with the friends who also were there to welcome you to this world, Amy, Crissy, and Erin. I still am trying to figure out where the time went. I cant believe this is it, no more 1st birthdays. You are the best baby. Such a little cuddle bug and so serious. You arent walking yet, but that is just around the corner. You will stand without holding onto anything and you also walk if you are pushing something. I just cant believe how big you are getting.

Kaeleb turns ONE on Thursday. Im trying to come to terms with this but I just can't believe my baby is turning one.
Part of turning one in the McGovern household is that you give up the bottle. I dont remember having this hard of a time with it with the other 2 kids. Kaeleb is fighting me tooth and nail. Warning...these pictures may break your heart....you have been warned :)

Lexi's Cheer Recital

Yesterday Lexi had her first recital for cheer. It was so cute and she had a lot of fun. It was a long day but the end result was worth it. The girls have been working on their routine since February and they did a great job.

This is the team that Lexi will be with for competition this year so it was cute to see how well the girls did together. They had full dress rehersal on Saturday morning. It started at 9:30 and we didnt get out of there until 1:00pm! We then grabbed a quick bite to eat and had a quick nap. Grandma and Mandy arrived around 3:30 and we ate dinner at 4:30 so I could get Lexi ready to leave by 5:15. We had to be there at 5:45 and the recital started at 6:30. Lexi's team was number 19 out of 26 so she sat with us for the first half until intermission then I took her to the dressing room.

She did such a fantastic job and everyone was so proud of her and the other girls.

Erin and Chloe and Amy, Harold, Andrew, and Aubrey came to support Lexi too and Andrew brought Lexi a dozen roses.

It was a great time and now I am so excited for the competitions to start!

Tired

Travis is normally a very good napper. He falls asleep almost instantly and stays asleep for a long time.
Yesterday he decided to fight me on a nap. I know some people will say that he is 3 and doesnt really need a nap anymore, but this child does. He is super cranky if he misses his nap and especially on days that Lexi has cheer practice.
He went to his room at noon like always and came out 4 times to go to the bathroom. He also came out with any little piece of trash to throw away that he could find. I kept telling him to stay in his room because he needed a nap. He said "I did take a nap" and I said " no you didnt". This went on for four hours! Finally at 4:30 I went to tell him to just come out because we had to take Lexi to cheer and this is what I found:

See I knew he hadnt taken a nap. Poor thing finally just fell asleep in the most uncomfortable position. I dont know how anyone could possibly sleep like that except for a certain 3 year old boy.

Easter 2009

The kids had a fantastic Easter! Lexi and Travis were very excited about the easter bunny coming. I have a feeling Lexi snuck out a little early to see if the Easter bunny had come yet since she described what she got in her basket before she even got out of bed.

They made out like Bandits!

The easter bunny brought them so much stuff! Kaeleb had a blast pulling everything out of his basket and banging it on the table.

After we ate breakfast and got dressed I managed to get one cute picture of all three kids. Then we headed to Austin for dinner at Mandys house where the Easter bunny hid 80 some easter eggs filled with more candy. The weather was fantastic at 85 degrees with perfectly blue skies. I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter!

Kaeleb at 11 months

I have MAJORLY slacked and not posted about Kaeleb's 11 month birthday. So this is a coule weeks late but you understand Im sure!

Kaeleb turned 11 months old on March 30th (I know! I cant believe his 1st birthday is right around the corner!). At 11 months old he weighs a whopping 30 pounds! He wears 18-24 month clothes and is still only crawling. I am okay with his not walking at this point but my patience about that is growing thin. Carrying a 30lb baby is not easy on my back :). This is all new to me since Lexi and Travis were both walking by 10 months old. He has recently started standing without holding onto the table so Im sure walking is not far off. We have been trying to ween him from the bottle but he is definately not going easy. He is a very happy boy but is still very serious. It takes a lot to get him to laugh and smile if he doesnt know you. He says "da-da" all the time and when you aske him to say "ma-ma" he just laughs and says "da-da" again. He loves to sing Baa Baa Black Sheep and loves playing with his sissy and brother. I cant believe hes 11 months already!

They both do this thing called Not Me Mondays where you basically write brutal truths but write Not or Not Me in them so it looks like you didnt do or say those things.

I did NOT think it was slightly funny that Lexi gave her brother a black eye. I mean why would a mother think its funny that after days of Travis messing with Lexi, she finally popped him one!
I am NOT excited that my kids are getting better rest in their own rooms. Who needs sleep anyways?
I am NOT in love with my new camara. I also do NOT love the fact that it tells me when someone blinks.
I am NOT looking forward to Amys birthday. I mean good god, shes 28. Whats so special about that?
I am NOT looking forward to trying this recipe for Jello Shot cupcakes.
I am NOT looking forward to giving Amy her birthday gift.
I am NOT procrastonating on cleaning my living room and I am definately NOT on the internet today or reading.
And most importantly I am NOT loving reading my new fave blogs!
Oh and I also do NOT think this is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

I have been in blogging oblivion for the past few months. We were without internet but9 now Im back!
While we were gone here is what you missed:
Lexi turned 5!

I cant believe she is 5 years old already. We had a Hannah Montana party at Mr Gattis. She had a great time and got all kinds of new gifts!

Travis is still same old Travis. He got his first black eye last week, but he was very proud of it!

And Kaeleb is doing so much. He is now cruising around the furniture. He is officially my latest walker since Lexi and Travis were both walking by this age. Im fine with him not walking although he gets pretty heavy to carry around. Hes still around 25lbs. Hes 10 months old now and I cant belive that next month we will be celebrating his 1st birthday!
I know there are lots of pics of Kaeleb but I couldnt choose just one.

And lastly...I turned 27! I cant believe Im 27! 30 is just around the corner but I dont feel that old. Maybe the kids keep me young :). I had a fantastic birthday and got a lot of wonderful things! Bud got me a new camara that I really wanted. Its a Nikon Coolpix S220. Heres a picture of it (yes I took a picture of my new camara with my old camara):

Kaeleb at 8 months!

Happy 8 month birthday Kaeleb!
At 8 months old you are such a big smart boy! You are a very serious baby but laugh at mommy and daddy! You love your sister and brother and have so much fun playing in their room. You can crawl now and you love to get into Travis' cars. You have started pulling up to stand and you also wave bye bye (but only to mommy). You have 2 bottom teeth and 1 top tooth. You weigh 23 pounds and are wearing 12-18 month clothes. Im so sad that you are growing up so fast but am excited to see all the new things you will learn to do in the next month!

I decorated my first cake this year.

I did not keep my New Years resolution. It was to be more organized. Probably not a good idea if you are having a baby hlaf way through the year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? I gave birth this year!
4. Did anyone close to you die? My grandpa passed away in May.
5. What countries did you visit? I satyed in the USA this year.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? I really want to spend more one on one time with Travis this year. I feel like the birth of Kaeleb has really taken up most of our alone time.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? April 30th because that was the day my last baby was born!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Completing our little family.
9. What was your biggest failure? My biggest failure was slacking on getting bills paid on time. Everything has gotten paid but not necessarily on time.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I was pretty sick at the end of my pregnancy.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Oso and Bella! They are our dogs and definately the best thing we bought this year!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I think my optimism has to be celebrated. We went through a lot this year but I never let it bring me down.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I really cant say anything appalled or depressed me.
14. Where did most of your money go? to bills unfortunately. Although we did splurge on a Wii and a few things here and there.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Kaeleb being born. Lexi and Travis are so opposite so I was really excited to see who Kaeleb would be more like.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008? Probably any New Kids on the Block song. I will always think of the FANTASTIC time Amy and I had at the concert!

b) thinner or fatter? thinner...im not 5 month pregnant anymore
c) richer or poorer? poorer...we have a more expensive house now but its so worth it!
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? I wish I took more pictures. I really dont think I take enough pictures.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Procrastinated. If I had procrastinated less I might have more me time.
20. How did you spend Christmas? With Buds family in Austin, TX.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I fell in love with Kaeleb. And Edward from Twilight. :)
22. What was your favorite TV program? My new favorite from 2008 is Fringe. Such good and always suprising show!
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? I dont hate anyone. I definately have people that I no longer tolerate though!

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Leslie Roy. I LOVE her raspy voice!
26. What did you want and get? a goodie basket! My sister in law makes goodie baskets for everyones birthdays and I have never received one. This year I got my wish!
27. What did you want and not get? A new camara! My battery compartment doesnt stay closed on my old one so its time for an upgrade!
28. What was your favorite film of this year? There were so many! I loved Twilight of course. I also really liked Journey to the Center of the Earth, Eagle Eye, and many many more!
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 26. My friend Erin kept Lexi and Travis, and Bud and I went out to eat at Joes Crab Shack. I ate a huge bucket of crab and then we went shopping. It was one of my best birthdays ever!
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Getting our house we wanted.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Its pretty comfy. I mostly wear jeans and tank tops....even in the winter :)
32. What kept you sane? Friends. Seriously. I dont know what I would have done with out my closest friends this year.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I LOVE all celebrities! I am obsessed with celebrity gossip!!!
34. What political issue stirred you the most? The presidential race. It was the first year I actually voted :)
35. Who did you miss? I really missed my family this year. I havent seen my stepbrothers in a long time and I really wish I could see my mom more often.
36. Who was the best new person you met? Best new person...hmmm...well the only new person I met this year that I am still friends with is Stephanie Robinson. Shes so funny and definately has the same sense of humor as me. Now with Lexi, and her son Drew, in school, we dont see each other often, so we really need to make time to catch up!

4 year olds and makeup!

Lexi really wanted makeup and jewelry this year for Christmas. Santa granted her wish and brought her a hair salon and vanity and mommy and daddy gave her make up. I just wanted to post a quick picture of my daughters beautiful make-up job. She sat in front of her mirror and did it herself! Isnt she a beauty?!?! LOL!!

We had a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at Buds parents house in Austin and opened gifts there. Santa brought Lexi a hair salon. She also got a new bean bag, a cupcake maker, an easy bake oven, makeup, jewelry, tons of littlest pet shop stuff, a diary, a digital camara, and a video game. Santa brought Travis a VSmile pocket which he hasnt put down. He also got some hot wheels, some tech deck fingerboards, a RC four wheeler, transformers, a nascar video game, a cars rug, a downhill race track, a color wonder magic paint brush, and a zero gravity race car. Santa brought Kaeleb a ride on dinosaur and some baby food. He also got a leapfrog learn and groove table, a wooden bead maze cube, a crawl ball, some keys that make noise and stuff, and a walker.
"Santa" (aka Bud) brought me a new Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. I also got a huge goodie basket, new cooling racks, a new cake decorating set, smelly bath stuff, new kitchen towels, tupperware, a shirt, and a VERY NICE picture of my kids!

Lexi got an Easy Bake Oven and the Cupcake Maker/Decorater for christmas. Of course she couldn't wait to make a cake. So today she made her first cake. It was a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. We cut it into 6 pieces so we could all taste her masterpiece. Lexi was the last to taste it and said "Mom, I dont like it. It tastes gross". I thought I would die laughing!!

All Dressed Up

Sunday night we attended Buds company Christmas Party. It was at The Mortons restaurant in downtown San Antonio. There was a dress code so this is a rare sight seeing Bud dressed up. The last time he dressed so nice was our wedding. The restaurant was good but not the best. Then we went to Howl at the Moon for drinks. We went home around 2:30am. We had a great time and cant wait for next years!!

Salsa Recipe

The moms group Im part of had a MNI last night. I took chips and homemade salsa (which is always a big hit). One of my friends, Kelli, asked me to post the recipe on my blog so here it is. It works easiest if you have a Vidalia Onion Chopper, but if not you can dice it all by hand.

Jenni's Salsa
2 tomatoes diced
1 sweet yellow onion diced
2 jalopenos diced
1 avocado diced
1/2 lemon
Salt
Pepper

Dice up all ingredients in order listed. Squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon. Add Salt and Pepper to taste and serve. Yes it is that easy! :)

Winter in South Texas

Yesterday we had record highs in New Braunfels. It was 85 degrees at 4pm. The came the cold front. By 6pm it was 60 degrees. Then came the snow. Yes snow! It went from 85 degrees to snow. We woke up this morning to most of it melted, but we did a little of it left to get a few pictures.

At 7 months old Kaeleb has finally started eating solid foods. He loves cherrios and blueberrys the best. He can sit up completely on his own and is still not very interested in crawling. He wears 12 month clothes and is still my fat boy!

Travis' 3rd Birthday

Travis turned 3 on November 23rd! He had an awesome carnival party and got a lot of presents. Guests included were: Grandma and Papa, Aunt Kim, Hannah, Bubba, Aunt Mandy, Amy, Harold, Andrew, Aubrey, Erin, Chloe, Cole, Cadee, Robyn, Riley, Crissy, Taytum, Sydnee, Steven, Chelsee, Tommy, Renee, Robert, Ashli, Garrett, Maryn, Doug, Kristy, Ryan, Denise, John, and Gavin. Kaeleb has started sitting up on his own now. Hes been able to sit for a minute or so for a while but he just recently started sitting for longer periods of time. Here are some pictures of his new acheivement!

Most everyone knows that Lexi and Travis are only 20 months apart in age. Sometimes it can be quite challenging but I really wouldnt change it for the world. 70% of the time, they are fighting. I am always hearing "Mom, Travis hit me" or "Mom Lexi broke my bed". But in the middle of all the bickering there is a piece of quiet and you get the moments where you are so glad they are close in age because they are truly best friends. The other night I put the kids to bed. Around 11pm I heard a bang like something fell. I peeked in their room to see if they were messing around and this is what I saw:

As much as they fight, they literally couldnt live without each other. Its moments like this that I know all the hard work is well worth it.

Kaeleb's 6 month checkup

Kaeleb had his 6 month check up today. He weighs 19 lbs 7.5 oz. That puts him in the 75th percentile for his weight. He is 26 1/2 inches which is also 75th percentile. His head is 18 inches around which is the 95th percentile. so he has a large head...lol. My poor baby got 3 shots today so hes not feeling the greatest. He goes back in 3 months but luckily no shots then.

If you dont know what Baby Legs are they are the coolest things ever...lol. They are like leg warmes for babies and little kids but can also be used as arm warmers for babies, kids and adults! They have really cool patterns. Here is a picture of them:

They retail for $12 a pair which really isnt that expensive but it adds up quickly. I got Kaeleb 4 pairs at Target last week on clearance for $6 each but even that adds up quickly. Then one of the moms in my moms group said she could show us how to make them using knee highs. I made 3 pairs today for $12 and it only took me 5 minutes. I made a pair for Lexi that she loves so guess what shes getting in her stocking from Santa!

Election Day 2008

No matter the outcome of this election, today is going to be a historical day. Either an african american man will become our president or a female will be our vice president. Im sure this day will end up in history books and our kids will be studying it in 10th grade history classes.
For the first time I got out and voted. Yes I know I am 26 and could have voted 2 other times already but I didnt feel the need to vote before like I did this year. I wont get into who I voted because I dont like to let politics get into friendships but I am very confident with the choice I made. I did my research and after heavily weighing my options I am pleased with my choice.
If you havent got out there and voted yet, stop reading my blog now and go vote. Thats the best thing about our country is that WE get to choose who represents our country, so let your opinion be heard and go vote!

Halloween 2008

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
We had a great halloween! The kids were so excited to go trick or treating. My friend Amy and her husband brought their 2 kids over to go trick or treating with us. Over all our street was pretty dead. But 2 streets over was some awesome trick or treating! The kids ran down the street yelling "Trick or Treat" and saying things like "Shiver me timbers" (Andrew was a pirate) and "To the Batcave" (Travis was Batman). The all got huge bags of candy. Travis couldnt even carry his by the end of the night. We only went out for about an hour but that was plenty. Bud had to dress up for work. He was a redneck, with the mullet and everything. I dressed as a rockstar. Kaeleb liked looking at all of the decorations and I think he enjoyed his first halloween!

Yesterday my modem died. We have the modem in our bedroom so I went in there to see if I could just switch plugs and get it to work. As I was looking at the modem, I looked to my right where the vacuum cleaner was and I saw something halfway under it. I thought to myself "that looks like a snake" and as I looked closer I realized it was a snake! I freaked out. I called Bud (like he could do something from work). He wanted me to put a box over it until he got home but I said no way because I would have to move the vacuum and I was scared it would come after me. So I called Animal Control to come get it. The came and got, and I asked if I could take a picture first. He told me it was dead. This whole time I was scared of a dead snake! It was a rat snake but I didnt care. Im just glad they got it out of my house!

I meant to post this yesterday but my modem died and I had to wait for a new one to arrive. So we are one day late!
Kaeleb turned half a year old yesterday. He is such a happy baby and loves to smile and stick his tongue out. He is trying to crawl but mostly just gets frusterated. Hes developed seperation anxiety so hes been very clingy. He is eating my food these days and is growing like a week. He started sitting up by himself a little bit but will fall over after awhile. I just cant believe hes 6 months old already! Where did the time go?

Weekend events

We had quite the weekend this past weekend. It all started on Saturday. We had a Halloween playdate for the moms group. The kids got to color a picture of a pumpkin, play put the sticker on the witches nose, hint for monster eggs, and play a gmae of "hot potato" with a squishy spider. Since the playdate was at noon my kids were whiny and cranky but overall it was fun. They loved wearing their costumes and they cant wait until halloween. I also had a cake order for Saturday. It came out SOOOO cute but I forgot to get a few pictures of it. It was pink with purple daisys on it! Mandy came and took all three kids for the weekend full of pumpkin carving. I was SUPER nervous about Kaeleb going. I trust Mandy fully but I have never left my kids that young. Bud and I took advantage of it though and had a great time just the two of us. We went to Seaworld Saturday night to ride the rides, enjoy howl-o-scream, and all of the fun things we dont get to do when we take the kids. We didnt get to go into the haunted forest because the line was 4 hours long and I really didnt want to wait that long. After Seaworld we went to Joes Crab Shack for dinner. It was nice to get to sit down and enjoy dinner with the baby crying or the other two asking for milk or juice. We got home around midnight and I immedietly missed my kids! It was entirely too quiet and the house just felt empty. I said that from now on Mandy has a 2 kid limit! LOL! We "slept in" this morning until a whole 8:30am and watched a 2 and a half hour long movie without interruptions! Then we went to San Marcos for our regular sunday tacos and then off to the races! We went to Crash-O-Rama in Kyle and watched the demolition derby along with other races. It was hot and I have a burnt face now but it was a lot of fun. Mandy delivered my kiddos around 6 and I was so glad to have them back (whining and all!). I feel like Kaeleb has gotten so much bigger just in the 24 hours he was gone. He sits up on his own now and he was so loving. I knew he missed his mommy because he just wanted to lay with mommy the rest of the evening! Now the kids are in bed and Im getting ready for our busy week. Lexi has red ribbon week at school this week and every day has a special theme. Ill try and take pictures each day for you all to see. Family Fall Fun

One of my favorite things about living in New Braunfels is the fall and winter season. Starting in October there are so many "small town" festivals and such. It really starts with the fall festivals and culminates in fun christmas activities!
Last weekend was the first of the holiday activities. We went to the fall festival put on by the Girl Scouts. It was super cheap and the kids had a great time (with the exception of the haunted house that we forced Travis to go into and he screamed the whole time...lol). We even convinced daddy to get off work early and go with us. The kids played a few carnival games and won some candy. Then we went on the hay ride where we managed to get a halfway decent picture of the five of us!! After the hayride Lexi went on the big blow up slide (of course not Travis, he's entirely to cautious for that). After some convincing we got Travis to go in the jumpy house with Lexi. Then they played a few more games. One was a ring toss type of game. They had a ring hanging from a tree that you had to try and throw a frisbee (paper plate) through. All of the kids in front of us couldnt get it in but my left handed son got it through (Daddy was proud). Then we stood in line for the haunted house. I knew travis was going to be scared to death but I wanted to show him that it was just pretend. They even kept the lights on for us but I still had to drag him across the floor through it. He screamed the entire time even after I showed him that the 'guts' were just spaghetti and that the 'monster' was just a kid with a mask on. Lexi swears she wasnt scared but I never even heard a peep from her the whole time.
Then we went to do the cake walk. Lexi won a cupcake right off the bat. It was a lot of fun and I think we spent a total of $7 for the whole family!
Next week is a busy one. Lexi has red ribbon week at school, Halloween on Friday and Wusrtfest starts Friday also (YAY!!!!). All 3 kids will be gone for the weekend with Aunt Mandy for pumpkin carving so hopefully Ill get pictures from that. Heres some pictures from the Fall Festival:

I have slacked lately and havent blogged for a while! I have been up to my elbows in batter and frosting :). I had to take a second from my baking and post this funny that Lexi said today. This is my daughter, the big acheiver!
The week of Halloween is Red Ribbon Week at Lexi's school. Every day has a theme and they have to dress according to that theme. Well Halloween is "Dress as you future career" day. Since I really have no idea what Lexi wants to be when she grows up I decided to ask her. Here is our conversation:
Me: "Lexi, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
Lexi: "What do you mean 'be'?"
Me: "When your big, what do you want your job to be?"
Lexi: "Why do I have to get a job?"

Yup, thats my daughter! Dream big honey. :D

A visit from grandma

Well we just ended our visit with grandma. She was here from October 2-7th. It was a quick short visit but we were so happy that she could come and visit. Of course Lexi LOVED having grandma here (and Kaeleb did too since she held him all the time...lol). Travis enjoyed having grandma here too even if he was a big turd the whole time.
Anyways it was mostly an uneventful visit except for her birthday party on Saturday. Grandma turns 55 this year so we had a party for her and I made her a granny surfer cake.

For her gift I had my friend Amy take some pictures of the kiddos and I framed them in a collage for her. Here is a few of the pics for grandma:

Kaeleb at 5 months old

Kaeleb turned 5 months old yesterday!!
Here is what Kaeleb is like at 5 months old:
You are the happiest baby. You always have a smile and are rarely fussy.

You weigh 17 lbs 14 oz and are 26.25 inches long.

You suck on your middle and ring finger.

Kaeleb had his formula check today and I was shocked at how big he has gotten! He will be 5 months old tomorrow and he weighs 17 lbs 14 oz and is 26 1/4 inches long! That means he has gained 1 1/2 pounds and 2 inches in the past month. Hes such a big boy! Hes wearing 6-9 month clothes now and is trying to crawl. He has his 2 bottom teeth and I think hes working on the top ones now! I cant believe he so big!

Fair Day 2008

Yesterday was the Comal County Fair Parade. Its a holiday for New Braunfels known as Fair Day and all of the schools and businesses are closed for the fair. Lexi rode on a float with her cheerleading team. It was a long parade (3 hours!!) and it was hot but I think she had a great time. I dropped her off at 9:15 and went to find a seat at the traffic circle so I could see her. Her float didnt come by until 12:15! She said it was fun and she loved doing her cheer and using the pom-poms.

At our new house our kitchen table looks out the window. As the kids and I were sitting down eating lunch today a blue jay landed on the fence. I said "Travis, look at the blue jay." Of course then Lexi wanted to see the bird, so she went and stood on her brothers chair. It had flown into a tree and I was trying to point it out to her. Finally it landed on the fence again and she was able to see it. She said "Mom, is that a pecker?". It took everything I had to not burst out laughing and just say "No Lexi, its a blue jay."

Lexi got her uniform in today (or unicorn as she calls it). She looks just absolutely adorable! She is just so excited and cannot wait until the parade next Friday. They have a cheer that they learned for the parade and they have a cute dance they are learning for performances set to the Bewitched theme song. They get to ride on a float with the older girls for the parade and she is so excited. Ill post pictures from the parade next week.

Open House and First Teeth

Last night was Lexi's open house at school. We had the PTA meeting first and then we got to go to her classroom after that. Her teacher had taken pictures of what they do during the day and made a cute little slideshow. Of course, Lexi was posing in all of the pictures. Thats my girl! So cheesy! She showed us the chart they use called Living and Non-Living and she knew where everything was supposed to go. She showed us how she plays on the computer. When we left I signed up for the PTA...lol...Im a PTA mom! Overall open house was great and she seems to be doing really well in school.

This morning Kaeleb cut in his first tooth! He has been teething for a while now but luckily for me it really hasnt seemed to be bothering him until a few days ago. His doctor even said his tooth should be in anyday because his gums were so swollen. We he woke up this morning I stuck my finger in there and sure enough I felt it! I cant believe he getting teeth already!

Kaeleb's 4 month checkup

Today was Kaeleb's 4 month checkup (actually it was Friday but I got the dates mixed up and luckily they had an opening to still see him.) He weighed 16lbs 9oz and was 26 inches long. Hes in the 75th percentile for all of his mesurements. The doctor was suprised at how well he could hold his head up without bobbling it. He is defiantely teething and the doctor said his teeth should be in anyday now. Overall hes doing great and growing entirely too fast.

Riding horses

On Sunday we went to Lexi's friend Taytums 5th birthday party. Lexi and Taytum have been friends since they were 2 so it is really amazing to see how much they have grown. Tates party was at a ranch and the kids got to ride a horse and then they got to brush and feed another horse. Lexi was VERY excited about riding the pony until they said she had to wear a helmet. I guess thats just not stylish for my little fashonista. She watched all of the other kids ride the horse and finally gave in to wearing the helmet.

After she rode the horse she decided to brush the other one. This was right up her alley because she got to brush the pony and put barrettes in its mane. She had a great time.

Hurricane Ike

Earlier this week, Hurricane Ike was forcast to hit Corpus Christi as a catagory 4 hurricane. This would mean that the hurricane would come straight up IH 37 and would still be a catagory 1 hurricane when it hit New Braunfels. We were forcast to get a lot of rain and 70+ mph winds. Everyone rushed out to buy water, canned foods, and generators for power loss. I try to have most of these things on hand all of the time anyways because you never know when the power might go out. I did have to get water though. Schools were released early or closed all together.
Hurrican Ike came ashore Saturday morning in Galveston, much farther east than previously predicted. We have beautiful sunny skys, a light breeze, and no sign of rain. All in all I think we survived the hurricane quite well :). All joking aside I do have family in the Houston area that choose to ride out the storm so I do hope all is well with them.

Family of Five

So I decided to start doing a blog so that everyone that doesnt live here can stay in touch with the kids going on's.

We just moved into a new house which we are VERY excited about! Its a beautiful brick home on a cute quiet street.

Bud is working like crazy to support our little family which I really appreciate. Because of his hard work I am able to stay home and watch the kiddos grow. He is working 6 days a week now which doesnt leave much time for us but since we are going on 8 years, I think we must be doing something right.

Lexi started pre-K this year at Goodwin-Frazier Elementary school. Her teacher is Mrs. Sundquist. She seems to be having so much fun and asks everyday if she goes to school tomorrow. She has 5 little friends in her class that she always talks about (which I wasnt worried about her making friends since shes so social). She got her first progress report today and shes doing great. Hopefully she will keep up the good work. She has her first field trip on September 25th to the Comal County Fair. She told me "We get to hold the baby animals, but not the cows because they are too big." She is looking forward to getting to ride the school bus for her trip. Heres a picture from her first day of school.

She also started cheerleading. Shes obviously the smallest on the squad but she loves it. Shes on the Silver Elite team. She has a friend in her class which she loves but we definately have to talk each time about not messing around and listening to her teacher. They should be getting their uniforms next week. They have learned a cheer for the parade they will be in on September 26th. They are also learning a cute little dance for their performances.

Travis is becoming such a little man. Hes struggling to learn how to live without Lexi now that she is in school, but we are getting there. Hes my little musician and LOVES to play instruments especially his guitar. Hes very mellow and easy going, but if you push him too far his dads temper comes out in full force. He still a mommas boy but is definately getting to the point where he no longer wants mom to kiss him or love on him too much. Hes going to be 3 in November and I just cannot figure out where the time has gone.

Kaeleb is growing like a weed! He turned 4 months old at the end of August and he weighed nearly 17lbs! Hes such a little fatty but is absolutely the happiest baby ever. Hes cutting in his first teeth and is rolling over from his tummy to his back. He has almost figured out rolling the other way. He is practically sleeping through the night only getting up once around 5 to eat. He has started sucking his fingers which is so cute right now but I know later is going to be very irritating. I just cannot believe hes so big. I have been trying to cherich every moment with him since hes our last baby but it goes by in the blink of your eye.
